The Dallas Video Festival, recognized as "the key American video festival," is a four-day event featuring over 200 screenings of local, regional and internationally produced programs of all genres - including dramatic shorts, animation, experimental video, interactive performance art, short and long-form documentaries, thematic compilations of short independent works, retrospectives of the works of certain artists, and expert panels on emerging issues. Festival highlights include presentation of the Kovacs Award, named for Ernie Kovacs, bestowed by Edie Adams (Kovacs' widow and collaborator) to a contemporary artist who best represents the comedic spirit and innovation in the tradition of Ernie Kovacs. The Texas Show, another focal point of the Festival, is a compilation of the best works of Texas artists chosen by an independent panel of critics and industry professionals. The 14th Annual Dallas Video Festival will be held from March 14-18, 2001 at the Dallas Theater Center.
